Executive Board Member - Kelly Schalter
Program Director, Michigan Recycling Coalition
Kelly Schalter is an adept communicator and consensus-builder, with an unwavering commitment to principled action. She was a board member of “Voters Not Politicians,” a ballot committee that successfully amended the State of Michigan’s Constitution to eliminate partisan gerrymandering by forming an independent citizens’ redistricting commission.
Kelly is currently the Program Director for Michigan Recycling Coalition, a nonprofit that promotes recycling and waste management across her home state. She works closely with private firms, county administrations, and municipalities to promote the effective use of resources while protecting Michigan’s valuable natural beauty. MRC’s lobbying and influence were critical in convincing Michigan’s state legislator and then-Governor to approve millions in new funding for recycling initiatives.
