VOTING RIGHTS INTERNSHIP

The Voting Rights Intern will support the mission and work of The People through a focus on the projects associated with our Voting Rights Committee. That includes review, research, and potential suggested revisions to the Voteopedia and Voting Resource Guide projects. This is an UNPAID internship and is not stipended; however, we are happy to work with your school/institution to provide documentation confirming project work to fulfill academic credit / service requirements.

Responsibilities: 

  • Research and updates to the Voteopedia tool 
  • Research and updates to the Voting Resource Guide 
  • Participation in bi-weekly Voting Rights Committee meetings 
  • Assist in the creation of state specific data compilation 

Skills: 

  • Verbal and Written Communication Skills 
  • Computer Literacy and experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Office
  • Research, Organizational and Project Management Skills 

Qualifications: Must be 18 years old and authorized to work in the US. High School diploma or equivalent. College students preferred with strong preference for students currently pursuing or who have obtained a degree in Liberal Arts, Communications, Political Science or a closely related field. Willingness to work collaboratively and with diverse stakeholders 

Work Schedule: Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to fill approximately 10-15 hours/week, with exact days and times to be determined according to your schedule. May be required to participate in volunteer calls, which are typically two evenings a month for 1 hour. All job duties may be done from home, but weekly digital meetings with the project supervisor and weekly organization-wide internship briefings will be required via Zoom. 

Duration: This internship is offered for three months beginning September 13th, 2021, with the opportunity to extend into the spring semester.
